really what changes, is something that initially makes them harder to organize. They don't want to get involved in taking on the boss. They tend to resist taking on leadership roles. But, the women who are willing to do that take leaps and bounds. There's a whole untapped source of leadership and intelligence and direction in the shops. There are different obstacles. For instance, you can't always have meetings right after work because women have to go home and feed their kids. But it just means you have to be a little more flexible.

Linda: Of the women who do become involved in the union, do you see it affecting other aspects of their lives?

Kathy: Oh, yes. It's amazing. It changes their whole lives. Women, I think, are a lot faster to change. Which, I'm sure comes from their oppression. It's very exciting.

Issues between workers and bosses are some of the most revolutionary issues in the country today. Anybody who challenges the corporate structure and profits is striking at the heart of capitalism. To get back to what we were talking about earlier, I hope that there will be a lot more ties between the labor movement and the women's movement. I think there is a lot that we can share.

traceptive preparations. Since these complaints were relieved by reassurance and treatment for individual symptoms, there is some question as to whether the complaints are physical or psychological. In no case was it necessary to discontinue the use of the contraceptive.

The Chinese researchers reported no change in potency. In addition, normal fertility returned within three months after discontinuation of the pills.

According to the New York Times, the gossypol preparations are also economically attractive. Production of the pills should be inexpensive. The annual world production of cottonseed is already high because of its use in animal food supplements.

Research into gossypol contraceptive preparations for men continues in both the U.S. and China. The successful use of the gossypol pill among Chinese males, some of whom have been taking the preparations for four or more years, should spur U.S. research efforts. Hopefully, in a short time, the male pill will be available in the U.S. Men here will then be challenged to take greater responsibility for their reproductive lives.
